Fanzter was founded in 2007 by veterans of leading Internet and media companies and is headquartered in Collinsville, Connecticut. They are a privately-held new media development company committed to building products that uniquely entertain and engage. The first product, Coolspotters.com, launches in early 2008.
Curious Office participated in a $2 million first round raised from Richard Barton (Benchmark Capital, Expedia, Zillow.com), and Seattle-based VCs Second Avenue Partners as well as angel investors from media and entertainment. Mike Slade and Nick Hanauer of Second Avenue led the round. Slade was formerly chairman and chief executive officer of Starwave Corporation. Nick Hanauer was co-founder and Chairmand of aQuantive which was sold to Microsoft in 2007 for $6 billion.
Aaron LaBerge and Eric Kirsten started the Collinsville, Connecticut based company last summer to create consumer internet products. LaBerge most recently was an SVP of technology and product development for ESPN (NYSE: DIS), where he was a leader on ESPN Motion and GameCast; serial entrepreneur Kirsten was a founder of TrueChat and Ames Seminars. CoolSpotters might best be described as a “consumer web-product, sitting at the intersection of pop-culture and products.”
