Finally got around to launching this blog…

Though I maintain a blog over on my personal site at kellysmith.com I am still embarrassed to admit that it took this long to get a blog up and running for our company Curious Office. Inexcusable. Laughable. Even pathetic. I got flamed more than a few times…even once last week from Scoble and I didn’t even bother responding because he’s right. I figured the moments spent trying to come up with a clever response would be best served installing WordPress.

So, here it is. I’ll post each and every day except on days where I don’t post.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Curious Office, I encourage you to read a few of the press links in the sidebar of the main site. Also, I understand we’ll have brief mention in a national business/tech magazine who’s name you know so look for that next month. On this blog, I’ll spend my time musing on the trials and tribulations of launching a new start-up, web apps I like and don’t like, companies I think will be successful and people who inspire all of us here at the office that’s curious.

Mototools 6 is a very handy piece of software. In summary, it allows owners of Motorola phones to unlock their phones with just the IMEI number.

This week the new version, Mototools 6, was released offering even more functionality and more models that can be unlocked, including the full RAZR V3 range, L6, L7 and PEBL U6.

What you can use it for:

Unlocking Motorola phones

By unlocking your Motorola phone, you are removing the software ‘lock’ that has been imposed by your current service/network provider.
Once this ‘lock’ is removed, you can insert a SIM card from any service/network provider, making it possilbe to switch to a cheaper competitor, allowing you to make lower cost calls and texts.
Also, once the phone is unlocked, you can take the phone abroad with you and avoid paying ‘Roaming Charges’. These are expensive charges that your network will bill you for when you use the phone abroad. By inserting a ‘local’ SIM card bought in the country that you are visiting, these roaming charges will not apply.
And remember, when it comes time to sell your phone, you will have increased it’s value by over 100% by removing the lock.

How simple is it to use?

The software is very simple to use, and has been tested on users aged from 5 to 70 years of age, as part of our beta testing scheme. The usual time for unlocking was within 3 minutes of software installation.

With the new update even more Motorola phones are catered for, and the unlock code generation time has been significantly improved, with integrated IMEI code checking.
The company also offer a no questions money back guarantee, should you have difficulties.
I, myself have used the software to unlock over 200 Motorola phones, and not encountered any difficulties, and am having good results with the ‘Unlocking site’ template provided with the software.
